Pull-Out ServicesIn grades 3-5, students identified as Highly Capable have the opportunity to receive services through the Highly Capable pullout program. Students who opt to participate in pull-out will be bused to Southwood Elementary School one day a week from 9:00-12:00 where they will receive specialized instruction for their grade level with other highly capable students from all over the district. Fifth grade meets on Tuesdays beginning September 19, 2017. Fourth grade meets on Wednesdays beginning September 20, 2017. Third grade meets on Thursdays beginning September 21, 2017.
In addition to focusing on creative problem-solving, risk-taking, and team work, students will also be working on social/emotional growth and goal setting. Students will be taught through cross-curricular units addressing grade level and above grade level standards. This year, students will also be participating in the Invent Washington Program and parents will be invited to the Invention Convention the week of February 5. |

A Virtual Night at the Museum
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is hiring a new curator and your application has been accepted. In order to get the job, you must create a complete, interactive, virtual exhibit using CoSpaces.io that will fit appropriately into one of the museum’s current areas and present it to the museum’s Board of Directors for approval. |
The Homemade Arcade
Nintendo has decided to open up a museum dedicated to the history of gaming, and you have been chosen to present an original arcade game to the company for consideration. If your arcade game fulfills all of their requirements, you and your family will be invited to the museum’s Grand Opening Gala and reception. |
